Catheter-based heart valve therapy
Catheter-based heart valve therapies are considered an alternative to surgical heart valve treatment. In particular, catheter-based heart valve therapies are used for aortic valve replacement (TAVI) and for insufficiency of the mitral and tricuspid valves. Catheter procedures are also occasionally used for degenerated bioprostheses (valve-in-valve) or after recurrence of valve insufficiency following surgical reconstruction (valve-in-ring).
Thanks to the latest technology, catheter-based heart valve therapies now enable minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVI) or repair of a valve (e.g. Mitraclip) without the use of a heart-lung machine.

Replacement of the native aortic valve via groin (femoral), apex (transapical) or aorta (transaortal)
Aortic valve replacement with existing bioprosthesis (valve-in-valve)
Replacement of the mitral valve via the tip of the heart (valve-in-valve, valve-in-ring)
Reconstruction of the mitral valve using MitralClip
Pulmonary valve replacement via the inguinal vein
Aortic valve stenosis
